Lay Teacher: Rowan Conrad

Rowan received teacher transmission from Thich Nhat Hanh in 2004. He has worked as a counselor, psychology professor, and a Peace Corps chemistry teacher. He practices with one of the longest existing Thich Nhat Hanh sanghas in North America (in Missoula, Montana) and works to bring mindfulness practice to prisoners.

Residential Retreat at Ancient Spirals Retreat Centre

Ancient Spirals is located on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River, a 15 minute drive south of Saskatoon. Suitable for beginning and experienced students of meditation, our practice will include sitting and walking meditation, mindful eating, Dharma talks, Dharma discussion, and noble silence. Check in Thursday at 6pm, Departure, Sunday 4pm.

Registration and Cost

A $50 deposit received by May 12th will secure your place at the retreat. The total cost is $190; full payment is due at check in on May 22nd. The retreat cost includes vegetarian meals and simple, shared lodging and covers only our expenses in holding the retreat; our retreat leader does not charge for his teachings. Following tradition, there will be an opportunity to support the teacher by way of a donation (dana).

Day of Mindfulness and Annual General Meeting

Friends and members of the Saskatoon Community of Mindful Living,

Thich Nhat Hanh, our teacher, calls upon us to practice together as a sangha.  Please feel welcome to join us for a gentle Day of Mindfulness and Annual General Meeting Sunday, April 6th.
The day will start at 10:30 am with mindfulness practices.  Please bring a bag lunch.  The business portion of the meeting will follow lunch, where we will report on the past year’s activities as well as choose our governing council for the next year.
LOCATION:  The Recreation Centre of the Evergreen Condominiums, 120 Acadia Drive. There are two entrances off Acadia – look for the signs posted at the entrances to the alleyways.  Park only in designated  “visitor parking” spots.  The Recreation Centre is a white free standing building separate from the gated units.  The entrance is on the east sideof the building.
Directions:  Turn north at the lights on 8th Street and Acadia Drive or north at the three way stop on 14th St. and Acadia.  Go past the Sherbrooke Nursing Home, a small strip mall, and a large park on the right adjacent to Cardinal Leger School.  Watch for the Evergreen Condominium signs on Acadia, take the first left turn past Simon Fraser Cres.  Those coming from McKercher  should take the first right turn past Simon Fraser Cres.

The Saskatoon Community of Mindful Living invites you to our 2014 Residential Retreat

A few details are yet to be worked out for our May retreat, but as in past years it will be a small retreat, limited to what Ancient Spirals can comfortable house, about 20 people.

The retreat will be held from Thursday evening, May 22, through Sunday afternoon at around 4pm.

Rowan Conrad will return again as retreat leader.

The cost will be $190, and that goes for the costs of the retreat. We provide an opportunity for dana to support Rowan.
